How to Install an Operating System, Reset Root Password, and Manage Your VPS

Managing a Virtual Private Server (VPS) gives you the flexibility and control to install software, manage security, and optimize your server for your needs. Whether you're a developer, website owner, or business, knowing how to manage your VPS effectively is essential. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of installing an operating system (OS), resetting the root password, and performing other key VPS management tasks from our client area.

1. Installing or Reinstalling an Operating System on Your VPS

When you purchase a VPS from us, you can choose from a variety of operating systems, such as Linux distributions (CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian) or Windows. Sometimes, you may need to reinstall or change the OS for various reasons, such as starting fresh or upgrading to a different version.

  1. Log in to Your Client Area:

    • Go to our Client Area and log in with your credentials.
  2. Access Your Products Management Panel:

    • In the Product Section, find the VPS you want to manage.
    • Click on the VPS, and this will open the VPS Dashboard.

  6. Wait for the Installation:

    • The OS will begin to install. This may take a few minutes, and once the installation is complete, your VPS will be ready to use with the new OS.
  7. Access Your VPS with SSH:

    • Once the OS installation is finished, you will receive your VPS IP address and root credentials in the Client Area. Use SSH to log in and start configuring your server.

2. Resetting the Root Password

The root password grants administrative access to your server, and sometimes, you might forget it or need to reset it for security reasons. Fortunately, you can easily reset the root password for your VPS through our client area.

Steps to Reset the Root Password:

    • Go to the Client Area and log in with your credentials.

  5. Wait for the New Root Password:

    • After the reset is complete, you will receive a new root password via email or within the Client Area.
  6. Login to Your VPS:

    • Once you have the new root password, use SSH to log in to your VPS:
      ssh root@your-vps-ip

4. Troubleshooting Common VPS Issues

Even with the best setup, VPSs can experience issues from time to time. Here are some common issues and how to troubleshoot them:

Issue 1: VPS Not Responding

  • Solution: If your VPS becomes unresponsive, you can try restarting it from the Client Area. If the issue persists, check for resource exhaustion (CPU or RAM) or contact our support team for assistance.

Issue 2: Unable to SSH into Your VPS

  • Solution: Ensure that your firewall is not blocking SSH access. If you have changed your SSH configuration, confirm the port and ensure it's open. If you forgot your password, you can reset it as mentioned earlier.

Issue 3: High Resource Usage

  • Solution: Check your VPS’s resource usage in the VPS Dashboard. If it's too high, you may need to upgrade your VPS plan to get more CPU, RAM, or disk space.

Issue 4: DNS Issues

  • Solution: If your VPS has DNS issues, check the configuration and ensure that DNS records are set correctly. You can reset DNS settings or check for any issues with your domain registrar.
